Extraordinary Agents

Chris Beckett

The extraordinary

agents of history

made good time

potatoes and grapes

locking lengths of knotted string

silent records half a day

from anywhere.

       Jewelled

folding organs and a narrow hoping

mined for corridors and reforms

epiphytes abundantly dark

       smoke

occasional radius.

       The extraordinary

agents pack rough

believing everything.
